Reader roundup: From bright bedroom designs to fresh exteriors and town murals

It has been a busy month for our readers, and we absolutely love hearing from each and every one of you about your creative projects using Resene paints, stains and wallpapers. There are so many of you out there giving it a go and sharing your stories with us, which means we can inspire others to pick up a paintbrush or roller and have a go too!

Amanda did a revamp on her bedroom, using Resene Pearl Lusta and Resene True Blue for a unique painted headboard. Before she started, she sought help from one of our many helpful Resene Colour Consultants, in this case Meryl, our online Resene Colour Expert, so she could find the right shades for her room. 

“Thanks so much Meryl. Your advice has really helped us! It took a bit to convince my husband that Resene True Blue would work in our bedroom as when we did the swatches, it was quite dark. But I managed to somehow convince him and he absolutely loves it,” says Amanda. “I just love the result!”

This before and after shows a stunning transformation for Stanley Street and School Road. Olivia and the team from the social club for the Waitapu group used their favourite Resene colours well and have turned this storefront into an attractive and appealing spot for people to get a bite to eat or hang out.

Jill from Resene shares her client Georgie’s exterior renovation of their ‘Harvincourt Farm Cottage’. This cosy and cool cottage is on the Central Otago Rail trail. The exterior is now painted in Resene Bokara Grey, a striking charcoal black that works well with the greenery and natural surroundings, without detracting from the beauty of the surrounding landscape.

Our reader Sandra did a refresh on one of her bedrooms, making it a bright and cheerful room compared to what it was before! She used the colour Resene Spring Fever, a sharp citrus yellow, with Resene Quarter Pearl Lusta on the trims and ceiling, along with Resene Wallpaper Collection 2692-18 for a feature wall.

Although Sandra's wallpaper is from an earlier collection, it works harmoniously in this room. If you love this pattern you can find many similar Resene wallpapers, such as Resene Wallpaper Collection 220462 or Resene Wallpaper Collection 5242-1 (above).

Habitat reader Simon chose to do a refresh of his exterior, and his colour choice brought this home to life! “We discovered Resene Lynchpin when we were looking through the Resene website gallery, it seemed perfect to bring out a bit of colour for our home while not being too bright,” Simon says. “We felt it provided a nice balance with the green of the lawn, especially when combined with the Resene Rice Cake joinery, and the blue and white along with the sandy door colour, Resene Okey Dokey, gave a great seaside beach feel.”
