Fully furnished brand new house in Whitianga up for grabs in the Heart Foundation Lottery

Have you dreamed of relocating to the seaside or owning a bach in a New Zealand hot spot. The Heart Foundation lottery is giving one lucky person that chance to live the dream and win a brand new home painted in Resene. Positioned on the eastern coast of the Coromandel Peninsula, Whitianga is a favourite holiday spot for many Kiwis. Close to popular tourist spots, this charming harbour town has a resort-like feel and is the perfect base to explore and enjoy the surrounding region.

Liz Halpin, Lottery Operations Manager at the Heart Foundation, says, “Whitianga has proven to be one of our most popular Lottery home locations. In fact, the last time one of our first prize Jennian homes was located here, tickets completely sold out.”

It’s no surprise that this up-and-coming town is so desirable. With a friendly community, local schools and amenities, and a stunning scenic backdrop, Whitianga is one of the fastest growing towns on the peninsula.

“Lots of people, particularly those who love outdoor and water activities, are moving to the area for the new Whitianga Waterways Development,” says Liz. “Whether you prefer relaxing on the beach or setting out on a boat, Whitianga has something for everyone to enjoy.”

Whitianga also boasts its own regional airport, offering daily flights to Auckland and Great Barrier Island.

Lottery No. 138’s first-prize, fully furnished Jennian home is perfect for a relaxed lifestyle by the water. It features three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a modern kitchen that comes equipped with quality appliances. Along with an open-plan living, dining and kitchen area, this home has a separate lounge – perfect to be used as an entertainment room. It has been expertly furnished and decorated by designer Kate Voice of The Furnishing Room. Here’s what she has to say about this home.

What was your design brief?

“To create a warm and inviting home which would reflect the coastal setting but with a level of sophistication often overlooked in beach homes.”

What colours did you choose?

“We worked with Yellowfox Interiors when deciding the paint colours. For the exterior, they chose Gun Metal Blue bricks offset with Resene Triple Sea Fog on the Linea weatherboards. Internally, the wall linings and trims were Resene Sea Fog and with Resene Alabaster painted on the ceiling.

Warm autumnal tones such as burnt oranges, yellows and forest greens were chosen to create a soothing natural ambiance and to reflect the colours found in nature. This created a sophisticated look with an attractive visual element.”

Peta Davis from Yellowfox Interiors adds: “We paired Resene Sea Fog and Resene Alabaster as they are ageless whites and sit quietly as natural backdrop in a busy family home.’

What was the biggest challenge for this project?

“Creating a gorgeous, functional home without knowing the future owners of the property meant a wider range of styles and options were possible. Narrowing this down to one style was at times challenging - especially with current delays and shortages caused by the pandemic.”

What was your favourite aspect of the design?

“It was very satisfying to see the design come together as a sophisticated and warm home after months of working towards that goal. I also found it heart-warming to be part of a project for the Heart Foundation as this is something which touches many families.”

In partnership with their long-time key supporters, Jennian Homes, the Heart Foundation Lottery offers the life-changing first prize of a fully-furnished home six times each year.

Lottery homes are built in lifestyle destinations throughout New Zealand and finished in Resene paints and stains.

You can support the Heart Foundation Lottery by purchasing tickets at www.heartlottery.org.nz. Funds raised from the Lottery go towards life-saving heart research and heart disease prevention programmes, keeping New Zealand families together for longer.

Resene Sea Fog is an apt choice for the wall colour of this coastal home. The grey-toned white emulates the colour of coastal fog, and pairs well with natural hues such as green and brown. The ceiling is painted in Resene Alabaster – a crisp white with a hint of grey.

The kitchen is light and bright with Resene Sea Fog painted on the walls and ceiling in Resene Alabaster.

The bedroom features Resene Sea Fog painted on the walls and Resene Alabaster on the ceiling to pair well with the earth tones in the room.

Resene Sea Fog painted on the walls and Resene Alabaster on the ceiling create a nice neutral base for the sleek and chic bathroom.

For the exterior Yellowfox chose Gun Metal Blue bricks offset with Resene Triple Sea Fog on the Linea weatherboards.
