‘Leaf’ it to us to give you some wonderful tips and inspiration to take your garden to the next level. All you need are some Resene paints in your favourite colours to add a pop of brightness and enhance the beauty of your outdoor space.

When decorating outside, use paint that is weather-resistant and durable, like Resene Lumbersider Low Sheen, to help ensure your colourful accents will last year-round. From stencilled patterns to accented plant pots, there are many ways you can add colour to your outdoor space.

Clean and green

Stencils are a diverse and cost-effective way of adding patterns to virtually anything. Creating some interest and intrigue, you can opt for feature walls, furniture, plant pots or whatever takes your fancy.

Using a low-tack masking tape to keep your stencil in place, dab a sponge in your chosen Resene paint colour and dab it over the stencil. Once one section is done, carefully lift the stencil off and place it in the next position for painting. Use a neutral base like Resene Rice Cake or Resene Alabaster to really make the colours pop, then stencil on some punchy oranges – great next to greenery – like Resene Ecstasy and Resene Tacao, or blues like Resene Governor Bay and Resene Perano.

Vibrant nooks

Add bursts of colour to your planters, garden furniture or create a mural or decorative accent on your fence. By choosing a range of bold, bright colours, you can create a fun and inviting atmosphere that will be sure to impress. Colours that look great in summer next to your foliage are golden yellows like Resene Broom, arty pinks like Resene Cabaret and seaside blues like Resene Torea Bay.

Courtyard colour

If you live in an apartment or don’t have a lawn, that doesn’t mean you can’t create your own garden with what you have. Add different types and sizes of plants and greenery to your courtyard or deck and make it colourful by painting plant pots. If you’re looking to stick to a colour theme, choose different shades from one Resene palette card that complement each other. For example, try greens like Resene Green Leaf, Resene Koru and Resene Chelsea Cucumber. You can also paint the surrounding walls and stain your timber decking in Resene Woodsman Decking Oil Stain to really refresh the area.

Shed makeover

If you’re looking to refresh your garden shed, we have some inspiration for you. From walls to benches and seats to tools, there are so many ways to bring your shed to life and inspire you to spend more time pottering away. If you’re worried about dirt, try painting furniture with Resene Lustacryl for a semi-gloss finish or with Resene Enamacryl for a gloss finish that’s extra durable and easy to clean.

Resene Rivergum is a grey-green, softly shadowed with depth, setting a calm and reassuring vibe for your time spent in the garden. Go for a complementary colour in Resene Ironsand, a smoky brown grey, or Resene New Denim Blue, a charcoal blue, to layer depth and complexity. Pair it with subtle neutrals like Resene Merino, a slight off-white or Resene Half Concrete to create a cool and restful atmosphere.

Small touches
