Tiny but terrific: Three tiny homes that caught our eye

17 Nov 2022

All good things come in small packages and there is no exception in the NZ Tiny House Awards.

The awards, which were held at the Tiny House Expo at Manukau’s Due Drop Events Centre, celebrate the best in the tiny business with finalists in four categories; Best Commercial Build, Best DIY Build, Most Creative Design and the Resene Colour Awards. Each year the entries feature designs that showcase New Zealand's innovative and unique houses under 60 sqm.

While all of the entries showed innovation in small spaces these three designs from the semi-finalists caught our eye!

Resene Colour Award semi-finalist: The Tadpole Tiny House

The Tadpole Tiny House by Build Tiny, was a semi-finalist for the Resene Colour Award. This home's minimalistic, yet cosy interior is complemented with the native macrocarpa timber which features throughout the home. The walls are painted in warm, crisp white Resene Quarter Thorndon Cream, creating an eye-catching contrast amongst the timber. The ceilings are painted a touch lighter in Resene Eighth Thorndon Cream, visually elevating the space creating an open feeling. The simple design features a studio bedroom, with a well-equipped kitchen and an elegant bathroom making it the ideal space for guests.
