What is your role at Resene and what does it involve? 

I am a Resene Colour Expert. I help people with colour schemes for their exterior or interior for both residential and commercial. Part of my role is listening to what the client is trying to achieve and navigating through the extensive range of Resene colours to come up with colour schemes that work.  

I also give advice on paint systems and recommendations on what tools are required to make the job simple and easier to achieve. It’s an interesting job, I have met a lot of people, shared stories, laughter and made friends while coming up with colour schemes. Everyone is so individual and it’s all about them! 

Tell us about some of your favourite projects using Resene products. 

I painted a dated vinyl floor with Resene Laminate and Melamine Primer (used to be Resene Smooth Surface Sealer) overcoating this with Resene Lustacryl tinted to stripes of Resene blues and greys – I just had to have patience for the paint to cure hard dry! 

Another project (below) I was involved in was putting a Resene Anaglypta wallpaper at the bottom of a dado down a hallway of a villa, creating interest and texture, painted over with Resene Black White. 

Christine used Resene Wallpaper Collection RD124 on the lower half of the hallway and painted the walls, including the wallpaper in Resene Black White.  

What is you biggest design or product tip? 

Never choose your colour straight from online, always sight the paint colour in person. Check the colour using an A4 drawdown colour swatch - ask someone at your local Resene ColorShop to help you find it, they will be only too happy to help – or for those specifying colours you can order these free online at www.resene.com/drawdowns. If you prefer to paint a larger sample, use Resene testpots, available from Resene ColorShops or online at shop.resene.com/testpots.  

Always use a good cutting in brush and the right roller sleeve – the paint flows a lot better and the finish is far superior. 

What is your favourite Resene colour/s? 

I love Resene Smoky Green, Resene Robin Egg Blue, Resene Twine, Resene Mai Tai, Resene Dark Buff, and neutrals like Resene Quarter Albescent White.
