Colourful cuisine: DIY kitchen utensils

21 May 2024

It’s safe to say that most of us enjoy a cheeseboard when we have over some great company. To make your charcuterie even more fun, try these DIY painted wooden spoons. You can make them as colourful as you like using your favourite Resene testpot colours. They also make a great gift!

You will need:

Step 1: Start by taping off the area of the handle that you want painted. Give the handle a light sand with a medium grit sandpaper, wipe off the sanding dust with a damp cloth and prime the handle with one coat of Resene Quick Dry.

Step 2: Once the primer is dry, apply two coats of your chosen colour as a topcoat. Fleur used Resene Illuminate,Resene Glorious and Resene Green Acres

Step 3: Once the paint is dry, remove the tape. Use some fresh tape and reposition it further down the handle. Paint the remaining part of the handle with two coats of another Resene colour. Fleur used Resene Times Square

Step 4: When the paint is dry, apply two coats of ReseneAquaclear satin to the painted handle. Use to serve your favourite cheese or snacks and enjoy!
