Hangin' with the best: DIY tea towel holder
26 Jun 2024
Having a place to hang up your tea towels or market bags will never go amiss in your home. This very simple DIY peg holder is super quick to make and will help those tea towels dry quickly – you could also use this in children’s rooms for their artwork or for hanging items in your laundry. We painted ours green to make the most of Resene’s Paint It Green campaign, but you can use any of your favourite Resene colours.
You will need:
- 1 piece of pine, 60cm long, 14cm wide and 2cm thick
- Wood glue
- Resene testpot brush
- Fine paintbrush
- Resene testpots in your favourite shades. We used Resene Dell, Resene Spanish White and Resene Beethoven
Step 1: Paint your piece of pine in two coats of your chosen Resene colour leaving the paint to dry between coats. We used Resene Dell.
Step 2:Using a fine paintbrush, paint your pegs in one or more of your chosen Resenecolours. It’s best to use two coats, allowing dry time between coats. We used Resene Spanish White and Resene Beethoven.
Step 3: Glue your pegs onto the painted pine, spacing them out evenly across the board. We started 7cm in from either end with 7cm gaps in between.
Step 4: Screw your holder directly into the wall and hang up your tea towels
Wall painted in Resene Rice Cake. Fruit tea towel from Father Rabbit, chequered tea towel from Freedom.
