Rock on! DIY rock art for your garden

02 Mar 2023

Your garden will look rock-solid with some colourful art amongst all the greenery. Why not get creative with some Resene testpots and leftover rocks and stones. This project allows you to get creative and think outside the box too, if you don’t have stones, maybe you have some old bricks, or shells lying around from the beach! This is a great project to get the kids involved in.

What you need:

Step 1: For this project you will need a handful of small stones and a big flat stone. If you can’t find a stone, a brick or a broken concrete paver or block would work just as well.

Step 2: Start by painting the big stone in your chosen Resene colour. Split the little stones into three equal groups and paint each group in your chosen Resene colour. Fleur used Resene Kingfisher Daisy on the large stone and for the little stones she used Resene Jurassic, Resene Paddock and Resene Frontier.

Step 3: Once the paint has dried, glue the little stones on top of the big stone with some water resistant silicone sealer or industrial strength adhesive.

Step 4: Finish by painting on eyes with Resene White and Resene Black. Wait until dry then find a nice place in your garden to put your rock art.
