Teapot Meditations: The practical poetry of Chris Weaver

08 Jul 2024

This is one event you won’t want to miss. Unique, quirky and functional, Chris Weaver’s Teapot Meditations: The practical poetry of Chris Weaver, on until 18 August 2024, is sure to delight the senses.

Chris Weaver, a potter working from his studio in Kaniere since 1980, has redefined the craft over the past 30 years, becoming a leading designer of luxurious handmade tableware.

Weaver focuses on creating functional yet poetic objects, emphasising an 'aesthetics of usefulness.' His innovative approach departs from traditional pottery methods, transforming symmetrical ceramic vessels through techniques such as compressing, slicing and incising. This meticulous process results in distinctive and finely detailed pieces that elevate everyday domestic rituals, blending practicality with artistic expression.
